Filter types
Bag filters are structures with fabric sleeves through which air passes. These sleeves are made of special filter materials that effectively trap dust and particles.
Over-silo filters are installed on top of the silo to prevent contamination of the air coming out of it. They help to capture dust and small particles, which is important for environmental compliance and prevention of environmental pollution.

Above-silo filters

Over-silo filters are designed to efficiently separate bulk solids such as powders, granules and granular substances that are loaded into storage systems including silos, bins, drums and containers. These filters operate on the basis of pressure (pumping) and vacuum (suction) methods in pneumatic systems.


Filters of this type can be used both in systems with and without fans, providing pneumatic conveying in both charged and vacuum conditions. Over-silo filters are designed taking into account parameters such as particle size, moisture content, load capacity, temperature, abrasiveness and adhesion, and are available in various versions: cartridge, sleeve and cassette.

Operating principle of the over-silo filter

In the process of loading silos with the help of conveyors, materials are fed into the silo (bunker, hopper, tank, container) under high air pressure created by the compressor of the silo truck or production equipment. In dense phase pneumatic conveying systems (densveyor), the material is also fed into the silo under high pressure.

During pneumatic conveying, dusty air is generated, which passes through filter elements (cartridges, bags, cassettes), trapping dust particles. Dust particles stuck to the filter elements are removed with the help of high-pressure air, which is sprayed from the back side. As a result of this process, dust is returned to the storage system, to which a silo or jet filter is connected. Compressed air accumulates in the filter tank above the silo and is periodically discharged through solenoids to the filter elements.

Applications of filters above silos
Jet filters are widely used in industries such as ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, concrete production, construction chemicals, ceramics, construction, energy, micronized minerals, food and pharmaceutical industries, chemical industry, agriculture, seed processing, glass, paper recycling, animal feed, tea industry, wood and wood products processing, as well as in wastewater treatment plants.

They effectively separate dust particles from compressed air, which is then discharged into the atmosphere.
